Deccan International School was founded in the year 2003 by Mr. K. N. Tilak Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Deccan Herald-Prajavani. As Chairman of our school’s management committee, Mr. Tilak Kumar brings with him the rich experience of having managed the Ashram School started by his grandfather, late Sri. K. N. Guruswamy, Philanthropist, Educationist and Founder of the Deccan Herald and Prajavani Group. Our Director, Mrs. Sujatha Tilak Kumar has worked to make the school special in every way and believes that a good education is the only real inheritance that we  leave  for our children. In the decade since its inception, the school has gone from strength to strength in areas both academic and co-curricular and we constantly look for new ways to enhance the learning experience.

2003

The innings began with the inauguration of our school by Anil Kumble on June 8th 2003.

2004

Deccan International School was affiliated with the ‘Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations’ (ICSE)

2006 – 08

Sports, cultural and literary events started to become a regular affair with students representing our school and winning prizes at major competitions. Music Enrichment classes were introduced for the first time.

2010

Deccan International School joined an elite group of schools when we were awarded ISA accreditation in November.From December onwards open schooling became a part of the Deccan International School through the NIOS Program.

2011

Technology entered the classrooms in 2011 and e-learning brought changes in how teachers taught and students learnt with the introduction of Educomp Smartclass.This year also saw our school getting affiliated to the IGCSE, which now allows our students to opt for a Cambridge Certification.

2012

The swimming pool – a long cherished dream, became a reality with the inauguration of the Nettakallappa Aquatic Centre.

2013

After a decade, through an extensive re-branding exercise, Deccan International School has redefined its Vision and Mission, keeping in mind the best outcome for the child. This was unveiled to the parents during the Annual Days in November.
