International Examinations, UK – (CAIE)
Cambridge International AS and A Levels is an international education programme whose qualifications are valued and recognized by universities worldwide. The syllabii prepare learners, typically 16 to 19 year olds, for university study by developing a deep understanding of subjects, as well as independent learning and constructive thinking skills. Cambridge International A Level is typically a two-year course, and Cambridge International AS Level is of one year duration. Some subjects can be started as a Cambridge International AS Level and extended to a Cambridge International A Level. More information on the CAIE can be found at www.cambridgeinternational.org
Cambridge International AS and A Level develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:
- In-depth subject content
- Independent thinking
- Applying knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations
- Handling and evaluating different types of information source
- Thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments
- Making judgements, recommendations and decisions
- Presenting reasoned explanations, understanding implications and communicating them logically and clearly
- Working and communicating in English.
Students must study 5 subjects from the subject groups listed below. English Language which is presently only an AS qualification is compulsory and 4 are optional. More information on the AS and A Levels be found at www.cambridgeinternational.org
